Kylie released a new camo collection yesterday that features a variety of matching camo tops and bottoms, but the internet was quick to call out media outlets for crediting Kylie as the pioneer of the two piece camo look. People were quick to point out that Destiny’s Child actually made the look popular in their “Survivor” video back in the early 2000s. Naturally the reactions were aplenty on Twitter with one person writing – “Destiny Child’s didn’t wear camo bikinis 16 years ago in Survivor video for you to say Kylie is the one to start the trend. Respect yourself.” Another wrote – “Every time this girl does something, they say she is starting a trend.” Followed by – “Miss Tina did not put in the hours on that sowing machine to be slandered and denied recognition.” But that was only the beginning because shortly after, a New York based brand called PluggedNYC spoke out saying that Kylie copied their designs. The brand’s Creative Director posted a series of alleged email exchanges between their brand and Kylie’s team that revealed the NYC brand had provided samples to Kylie. The Creative Director tagged Kylie in the post with the caption saying QUOTE – “When you really Pablo… I am the influence *drops mic. Copy & Paste down to the shoes I used on my models. The kardashains will take your n***a & brand I stamp lmfaooo.”
Kylie’s team has yet to respond to the accusations but this isn’t the first time she’s been accused of something like this. She was previously accused of copying a t-shirt design earlier this year as well as copying a makeup artist’s original design. We will keep updated as the story progresses but I want to hear from you guys. What do you think about Kylie being named a trendsetter for the camo look?
